Ever wonder what becomes of the seized cars, trucks, and vehicles seized by the Police, IRS, & FBI? Every month across the United States, thousands of cars are repossessed (repo'd) and auctioned off to the public at police auctions. These cars are listed up to 90% OFF their original value and often start at $100. Many great cars have been selling post-auction for $300 as a result of current recession. Also listed are government pre-owned vehicles, usually well maintained and not more than 2-3 years old.
What's important in finding police auctions? The most important criteria in selecting one of these sites are 1) Legitimacy; do they have access ALL police auctions for seized cars and trucks, or just a few? 2) Listings; do they list repossessed, or repo'd AND seized vehicles? and 3) Contact Information; do these sites give you the information you need to register at the auction, contact the sheriff or police departments or agencies, etc. Our top recommendation in this category is GovernmentAuctions.org.
Government Auctions has recently added vehicle auction listings for both online and live on-location auctions. To find your favorite car simply provide your ZIP code or car make/model to see a list of cars and on-line and live auctions in your area (Video shows a 1 year old Monte Carlo sells for $1,000). Once you have a membership you'll also have access to listings of the many cars that don't sell during the auction are sold afterward for $300.
Legitimacy - Just looking at their home page we see they've been featured and interviewed on CNBC, ABC News, CBS News, Barrons, and others. There was even a video posted of their CNBC feature. Watch the video - it was NOT a commercial. This site is as valuable and legitimate as they get. I know I bought my beemer using them.
Listings - Thousands of car/vehicle listings of all types with a new easy to find search engine. Find any car within any auction anywhere in North America (nobody else is tapped into all the auctions like these guys)! Afterall, when you're trying to make or save money, you want the largest number of choices.
Contact info - Too many of the auction sites don't provide enough detail; again, these guys get it right. Many listings have a picture of the vehicle as well as all contact and auction info.
Bonus - With purchase using any link on this page they are also providing a voucher worth more $400 for a 3 day stay in one of any 60 Resorts in the US, Mexico and Hawaii (not a time share promotion or anything like that), and a free 'Save Money on Gas Report'. We grabbed ours and had a great Resort mini-vacation. This alone paid for our membership many times over.
Even if you cancel your membership, and pay nothing, keep the $400 Resort Voucher and Save Gas Report.
Government Auctions did not engage in any of the shady or questionable practices we've seen on many of the sites. No automatic re-billing, and no "hidden" charges.
This site was recently added as number one because besides providing online auctioned vehicles, they are the ONLY site that provides immediate access to more then 4,000 updated live auctions in every state, selling every type of vehicle, from 40%-95% off their current book value. Many of the auctions they list sell Government pre-owned/surplus vehicles (not seized from owner) which are typically 2-3 years old and very well maintained. Gov-Auctions also breaks it down in an easy step-by-step instruction so that the first timer can be fully informed and understand what to do before, during, and after the auction.
Listings - Gov-Auctions provides the largest number of both online and live auction listings from different local and federal agencies (IRS,DEA,FBI, etc.). The listings include much detail including the address, phone numbers, auctions dates, etc. that you won't find elsewhere. Listings also cover Non-Government auctions, and direct access to eBay vehicles of your choice. Gov-Auction's vehicle selection comes from more different sources then any other site we've seem. Contact info - Thorough information provided for each online and live onsite auction.
Bonus - more bonuses then anyone, worth the membership price in of itself, including a full 5 step tutorial for mastering auto auctions with video so you can see how it's done. Free registration to Police.com auction site. Other helpful services including a car blue book to determine a vehicle's worth, free loan and extending car warranty advice. Also link from this site and receive a 2 night free stay hotel certificate valid in any of 23 US cities.

There are literally thousands of cars, trucks, boats, planes, RV's and other seized and repossessed vehicles auctioned every day through police auctions and government agencies, as well as State and Local municipalities.
Listings - Car-Auctions had the largest number of listings for police auctions and seized vehicles - cars, trucks - from the federal and state agencies that auction seized vehicles: DEA, FBI, IRS, etc. They also listed a huge number of Fleet Liquidations. We were able to search for and find nearly every type of car or truck we could think of.
Contact info - The site made it very easy to follow-through on actually bidding on or buying a vehicle once we found what we were looking for.
Bonus - $9.95 gives you access to some very valuable extras, worth the 10 bucks in our opinion.
