Government Auction Web Sites
Government auction
web sites auction off literally thousands of homes,
trailers, cars, trucks, property, tax sales, and seized &
surplus merchandise. These auctions offer incredible
opportunities to purchase up to 90% off market prices. Some of the
auctions require bidding in-person, while some are conducted
online. All of them require you to register, either with the
particular agency, or for the specific auction.
What's important
here? The most important criteria in selecting
one of these sites are 1) Legitimacy; are the sites providing these
links legitimate? 2) Listings; do they have plenty of listings? and
3) Contact Information; do these sites give you the information you
need to register at the auction, contact the seller, etc. Our
top recommendation in this category is GovernmentAuctions.org.

This no-nonsense, state-of-the-art site is updated
frequently and is the best we have ever seen. With
the most up-to-date government and police auctions, and tax
sales, the largest auction database available
and excellent customer service you just can't go wrong
with GovernmentAuctions.org.
Legitimacy
- Just looking at their home page we see
they've been featured on CNBC, CBS News, Barrons, and
others. There was even a video posted of their CNBC
feature. We watched the video - it was NOT a commercial. The
company CEO was interviewed on a business show as an expert
on buying real estate at auction.
Listings - More listings = good;
fewer listings = bad. We counted over 2000 agencies
and more than 75,000 foreclosure listings, plus
FEMA, GSA, and many federal government land sales. Afterall, you're
trying to make or save money, you want the largest number of
choices. These guys have it.
Pre-foreclosures - A hidden gem;
many pre-foreclosure home listings! This is where you can
really do well buying houses, before the foreclosures are listed by
every real estate agent on the planet.
Contact info - Too many of the auction
sites don't provide contact info; again, these guys get it right.
Almost every listing has direct contact info: name address, phone
number, etc.
Bonus - When we
last reviewed the site, they were offering a hotel voucher worth
more $300. We grabbed ours and used it. This alone paid for our
membership many times over. (Guess which one of us got to use it?
One of the benefits of heading the team...!)

$39 Annual Membership (regularly
$78)
GovernmentAuctions.org did not engage in any of the
shady or questionable practices we've seen on many of the
sites. No automatic re-billing, and no "hidden"
charges.

Auctions Pass is one
of the very few sites that also scored high in all
areas. It is extrememly well designed, the content well
organized and navigation very intuitive. The database offers
literally thousands of auctions on behalf of local, state,
and federal law enforcement agencies. The only reason they did
not get a full 10 rating is that they didn't have all
the extra "value-add" information that made
GovernmentAuctions.org such a great site - otherwise we are
very comfortable with the recommendation
Legitimacy - AuctionsPass is one
of the few other sites that has been around a long time. The site
provides all they say it does.
Listings - Though not quite as
many as GovernmentAuctions.org, we counted
many thousands of listings in all the
important areas.
Vehicles - This was an area
AuctionsPass did very well, with listings searchable by type of
vehicle and location.
Contact info - Good contact info on most
listings
Bonus -
AuctionsPass is giving away a very well-written ebook when you sign
up. We found it to be very informative, especially if you are new
to buying at government auctions.
